Web Design

Need a website? Use the power of the Internet to increase your business!

See our Pricing just below, but don't miss our Philosophy of website design further down. There are also some Examples you can view to get an idea of the kind of work we do.

Pricing

We believe we offer significant value for the cost of our website development.

We offer hosting services for websites that we build and give significant discounts for the creation of sites that we will host!

Web Presence

Our Web Presence packages puts your company on the Internet with a look and feel customized specifically for your business. This allows you to provide information about your company to your customers seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day. Compare our quality and pricing with our competitors and we believe you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Our prices vary depending on complexity and pages, but a typical price for a web presence that includes some basic graphics and five or so pages (home, contact, products, faq, etc.) would run from $500 to $700. The content of a web presence is by definition fairly static and does not change often.

Don't forget! We give significant discounts for building sites we will host.

Weblications

Weblications include more functionality and are more interactive than our Web Presence packages. They have capabilities such as searching, gathering information from users (form input), using a database to store and retrieve information or possibly even voice automation technologies.

Since weblications vary greatly in complexity, we would review your project requirements and provide a proposal with quote. Here are some technologies that could be utilized in a weblication.

  • Input form with results sent to your email account
  • Dynamically displayed information retrieved from a database (offers clients to control content of their database through easy administration functions)
  • E-commerce ability to take orders via credit card
  • E-commerce ability to take orders via PayPal
  • Voice technologies such as automated message delivery, group notification, etc.

Examples

Here is a sampling of some of the work we have done. We've also listed our level of involvement with each of these projects.

Philosophy

At WestTech, we pride ourselves on providing highly effective and easy-to-use websites for our customers. We utilize solid web and user interface design methods to create useful web content that is easy to navigate and effectively conveys your message.

Here is our philosophy on website design:

  • We strive to conform to guidelines promulgated by web usability expert Jakob Nielson in his excellent book Designing Web Usability : The Practice of Simplicity.
  • Use of small fonts and graphics that cannot be resized do not make for easy-to-use websites. We attempt to make attractive designs utilizing standards that make sites usable by persons with all levels of sight.
  • High-speed Internet access is great! Unfortunately, most people either don't have access to it or choose not to purchase it. This means most users are still using modems to access the Internet. Lots of graphics may look great, but they can take a very long time to download for modem users. We balance the need for graphics with the need for fast download.
  • A flashy website doesn't necessarily equate to an effective website. Use of Macromedia Flash has added "flash" to some websites. However, our experience has been that in most cases, no real value is added by the use of Flash. There are definitely purposes which are suitable to using Flash, but public corporate websites generally aren't among them. In short, we attempt to balance the use of Flash with the impact on speed.
  • By now it should be clear that we believe a balance between ease-of-use and marketing appeal is best. A busy website with too many distractions oftentimes dilutes the message the website is attempted to deliver. Also, anything that looks like an advertisement gets ignored by most users. If you want your message to get through, Keep It Short and Simple (the KISS principle).
